Tucked away on a Montclair’s Church St. — a tribute to all that is quaint — is possibly the best french toast known to man. Jerseycool poppeed in recently on a quiet Friday morning for a quiet read of the NJ Star Ledger and the hope that the morning scratch off bought down the street would end the drudgery of our day job.
The scratch off proved worthless, just another $2 of hope down the drain but more than consolation was the discovery of Raymond’s
french toast. Think of soft, baquette bread, dipped in batter. Not you’re father’s french toast but something for the new century.
Now, Jerseycool tends to frown upon neaveu dinners but these little bits of heaven pass the taste test with batter flying. Better yet, instead of home fries the french toast comes with a side of fresh fruit to ease the guilt of the Statin addicts.
Jersey Cool says Raymond’s French toast is worth at least an hour drive, maybe more.
